UPCOMING WORKSHOPS HELD AT CLUB RETRIBUTION 11TH AND 12TH OCTOBER, 2008
Miss Evil Gen and Mistress Satet, have organised 4 workshops to be delivered by Mark, Aleni and Lani from DV8 House Sydney.
Those coming along for the Saturday night workshops will be given entry into Retribution for $20 instead of $25. This will be Club Retributions 1st Birthday Event as well. So will be a HUGE NIGHT.

Mark of DV8 House – Erotic Rope Energy: Finding the Bond Beyond the Bondage
This is the second in a series of articles I’ve been posting that contain my notes and impressions from the workshop sessions at Shibaricon 2008, Chicago.
The second session we went to on Friday was on rope energy with Mark of DV8 House. I have to be honest, prior to Shibaricon, we’d never heard of DV8 Mark and we pretty much chose the session at random. I’m so glad we did, this was an interesting session.
Upon entering we witnessed, what I’m sure is a very typical, scene between a shockingly beautiful woman and an intense, focused man. The woman was nude and standing before the audience with her eyes down and to the side and one arm clasping the other in a pose of nervous vulnerability. The man stood behind her and, gently brushing the smooth skin of her neck, slowly carressed her body with a length of natural colored hemp. As his hands moved across her, she sighed and sank into him. As he held her he laid more wraps of hemp across her breasts. Gradually, he increased in speed and intensity, laying on the rope in faster and more complicated patterns all the while the woman seemed to sink deeper and deeper into an awareness of the rope, and him. It was like watching the spider and the fly. She was irretrievably caught in his web, arms bound in a box tie and he, with the spider’s grace, all but made the rope dance over and around her body seemingly wrapping her with nothing more than his will. Finally, she was not so much trapped as cradled by the unyielding authority of the lines of rope around her body and the man ran the tails through a suspension ring overhead, lifting her off balance and releasing her from the ground. It was beautiful, stunning, and our first introduction to DV8 Mark and Lani. Absolutely inspiring.
I didn’t have a notebook and there wasn’t a handout, so these are my memories and impressions that may or may not actually relate to the class.
After the introductory performance, the discussion revolved around the scene that had just taken place. The focus was on desire, intent, seduction, and capture.
At the start, there is desire – as when Lani was standing, naked and vulnerable. This desire is focused into intent – Mark’s slow approach from behind and the gentle caress behind her ear whispering his presence. Then begins the seduction. Mark made an excellent point here, a question was asked on the order of how did Mark know to do one thing over another, or use one tie instead of another? Mark replied that the energy of the scene, if heeded, will tell you everything you need to know. Then he added, amusingly, “I’m a man and I will use every weapon in her arsenal to seduce her.” (great quote, that). Mark used his own presence and the rope to seduce Lani, first standing close to her so she could relax into him then caressing her body with the rope to lay on the wraps. The seduction was slow, the whole time Mark was focused on Lani and what she felt. The application of the rope was secondary to the moment. In fact, I think this was the session where I locked on to the idea that the rope should feel like an extension of my touch. After Lani was relaxed and completely focused on Mark the seduction was complete and the capture began. It was at this point the scene increased in both tempo and intensity. The only thing I can think of to describe is to say that it looked like a spider capturing a fly. Lani was completely immobilized the strength of Mark’s will as Mark wove the rope around her quickly and with a confidence that made the certainty of Lani’s capture complete.
Admittedly, there wasn’t a lot of discussion (that I remember) about energy, per se. It was more about focusing your intent and being in tune with your partner enough to be able to detect their desire.
I walked away from the class inspired. It was amazing to see two top performers at the top of their game illustrating so naturally what it is that I was there to learn. I’m afraid that my description can’t really do justice to what we saw. Those of you who’ve seen Mark and Lani perform will know what I mean.
This session made for a very interesting compliment to the previous session in that, instead of being completely done with floorwork, the highly intense and intimate scene was played out in a partial suspension really illustrating nicely how the same principles can be applied regardless of whether you’re flying on the floor or in the air.

Participants should BYO whatever rope they have. Mark will briefly discuss different ropes and advantages and disadvantages as part of the workshops.
For Suspension workshops, if participants have any suspension points equipment, such as Caribeeners or suspension rings etc, bring them along…if not, Mark will have his and Miss Gen will have some for demonstration play.
If people have Safety Scissors (EMT Shears), bring them along.
